Today’s post is simple: I LOVE CAMP!

I love everything about the camp grounds and the program. I love the memories that have been made there. The friendships that I formed there. The decisions I made that have shaped who I am today.

I love the anticipation that is being felt. The excitement of another year starting in just a few weeks. I love watching you converse on Facebook, wondering who is going to be there. I love that none of you have asked me, even though I have the list of all campers who will attend.

I love the staff that we have chosen and the campers who have decided to attend (even those I have not met yet). I love that some of our staff will be taking a week of vacation from work with no pay. I love that you as campers come to camp even when your friends think you are a dork.

I love that I get to share the job of director with my husband and that I get to minister with my friends. I love the fact that my vacation time is not spent tanning myself or fighting crowds at the beach but instead it is running around a field in Beach Lake and being a role model for teens.

I love the fact that we have excellent speakers and awesome worship team. I love that God already has a plan for our week and that His plan is greater than mine.

I love the fact that God has given me this opportunity to serve Him in the most wonderful place I can imagine.

I love Camp and in 3 short weeks I will be there!

A few people have been asking me about the camp medical forms. Let me give you the quick overview of our policy.

You will need a new medical form for camp every year! The form can be found on the camp website www.camptimberledge.org. The required physical has to have been done within the last two years, but you still need a new medical form signed by your doctor for this year. Remember NO NEW MEDICAL FORM MEANS YOU WILL HAVE TO LEAVE CAMP UNTIL YOU GET ONE!

If you have any other questions regarding the medical forms or other health questions, please let me know and I can get you in contact with our nurse.

There are only 10 more days until camp so don’t waste time. Get your forms signed and get packing!

One down and three to go. Today starts the second week of the camping season. The Intermediate week is for campers in grades 6&7 and we ask that you keep them in prayer this week.

Please pray for the Director Rosie. Rosie has spent many years at camp in many different roles, but this year is her first year as director. Rosie has had a lot of bumps in the road as she has been planning so please pray that everything runs smoothly.

Please pray for the campers. For lives to be changed.

Keep in mind the college students who are counseling for the second week in a row. Also your fellow friends who are part of the Leadership Training program.

I am so excited to hear about the great things that are going to come out of Intermediate Week.

I made a trip to camp today to visit my mom who is the director of the Junior Week and I am please to announce everyone is having a blast. Despite a few rain showers, spirits are high and everyone was enjoying the day.

I have already heard some amazing stories about some pretty brave kids. I was extremely excited to hear that God is already changing lives and it is only Wednesday. A few kids came to camp this week not know anything about Christianity. They thought the Bible was an animal and the Abraham in Genesis was referring to Abraham Lincoln. After hearing only 3 sermons these small kids of age 9 & 10 have accepted Christ into their lives and are seeking to follow Him.

God is awesome! It amazes me (though it shouldn’t) that God can do such great things in such a short period of time. God has already begun to work and I can’t wait to see what He is going to do the rest of the summer!

Please continue to pray for Junior Week.

Now that we are done with the Spring Retreat we have entered into the time of year we called crunch time. Or the “OH MY GOODNESS WE HAVE A LOT TO DO!” time. Can you believe Senior Teen 2010 is only 75 days away?

As directors, Jordan and I, have a lot to do between now and the end of July. Time is flying by and we have games to plan, challenges to construct, and shopping to accomplish. There is also the non-camp things that need to be taken care of. Work, family, church, birthdays, and other everyday ins & outs are squeezed in & around camp planning. While we are doing our part to get ready for camp, there are a few things you need to do as well.

Invite everyone you know to Senior Teen 2010! Let’s make this year be the highest number of Senior Teen attendees.

Send in your Camp Registration! It only takes $25 to pre-register.

Get your camp physical! You can have your school nurse fill out the physical form for FREE or take it to your family doctor. You can go to the camp website to download the form. Everyone must get a new physical each year! No physical means no camp!

Promote Senior Teen 2010 to your church/youth group! The church/youth group with the highest number of Senior Teen attendees will receive a back to school party package.

Check the Senior Teen Blog daily! We will be releasing insider information into this year’s game & theme, posting important info that you & your parents will need to know about Senior Teen 2010, and we will be gathering together as a Senior Teen Community to get excited for camp.

We are going to be doing our part to make Senior Teen 2010 the best week of your summer. We do not want you to miss out.

You only have 75 days or 10 weeks or 2 1/2 months to get this stuff done. No matter how you are counting, camp will be here before you know it!!!

It is the middle of winter. Somehow the endless amounts of snow, the cold weather, and the flu like symptoms just won’t go away. Parents, teachers, and even friends are about to drive you past the point of no return. I bet you are longing for those warm summer days beside the cool sparkling lake. Do you have the desire to share your thoughts about God; your hurts; dreams; and struggles; with people who will listen? Does the thought of breaking a sweat while playing a stupid game bring those warm fuzzy feelings? Ok so maybe not that scenario, but when it comes down to it you miss camp. There has been 7 months since camp and it seems so long ago. You are stuck in the winter rut and probably counting down the days until you can get together with your camp family. Here are 10 ways to make it through the next few weeks of snow.

10. Tie a string on a ball and suspend in from the ceiling in your room. Practice your tether-ball skills.

9. Pull out the musical listening device of your choice and listen to some of the worship songs from camp.

8. Grab your sleeping bag and plan an overnight on your bedroom floor. Light a candle & roast mini marshmallows on a toothpick (practice fire safety of course).

7. Plaster your locker with camp pictures…when someone asks you who is in the picture, spend the whole time walking to your next class, telling them about camp.

6. Go to the camp flickr site (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ctseniorteen) print off one of the scenic camp photos, blow it up really big, and tape it over your bedroom window.

5. Start your camp 2010 fund. Collect spare change, collect & return soda bottles for the refund $$ (if you live in NY that is), put on your bright green camp shirt & go shovel out your neighbors for cash, bake cookies & sell them, or organize a youth group fund raising event. There are so many possibilities.

4. Dig out & put on your summer clothes, grab a Frisbee, stand in front of the mirror and practice your Ultimate Frisbee dives.

3. (Here is the shameless plug you knew would come) Visit the camp blog daily for great reminders of camp 2009 and new info for camp 2010.

2. Send a message to your counselor (or any staff member for that matter). Tell him/her you need to talk. They will be more than happy to call you on their dime!

1. Use all the social media sites, email, snail mail, or the phone to contact a camp friend. They are probably feeling the same way you are and would love to catch up!

Hang in there. Camp will be here in 5 months, the Retreat will be here in 3, and if we pray really hard warm weather will be here in 1!
